Durability of Surfaces due to Drop Impact

  • Testing surface degradation due to continuous impact of water droplets falling on the sample surface.
  • Kinetic energy of falling droplets controlled by positioning drop dispensing syringe-needle at different heights.

For lubricant-infused surfaces, the droplets rolling off the surface after impact are collected and tested for presence of lubricants, quantifying lubricant drainage loss.
